Last night I ordered some food from one of my regular noodle shops. I order from this same restaurant at least every two weeks, and at this point I know the delivery people. Last night one of the most regular delivery guys rings my buzzer, and when I meet him at the door he gives me a really strange look. The whole interaction was a bit off in fact, and I thought it was kind of odd, but I brushed it off and went on with my night.

This morning when I was getting ready for work I took off the shirt I was wearing last night and realized I had answered the door in one of my shirts from Pride. I answered my door wearing a bright red shirt that says “I FUCK MEN” in big block letters. Now the weird look and awkward interaction makes sense. Maybe he thought I was making some kind of pass, but really I was just obliviously wearing a shirt around my apartment and not thinking about it, haha.

This made me laugh out loud REALLY hard. I scared people.

This is actually what I’m hoping to do my research on during residency. The only road block to doing this right now is imprinting, which is a process that turns particular genes off. Imprinting occurs at different loci when done in the ovary and the testis to complement one another. If the mechanism by which imprinting is controlled is found and can be manipulated, voila, gay-bies. If you want to know more, ask me! I really like this stuff. (Oh, and the mitochondrial DNA is another thing to consider, but I don’t consider that a roadblock so much.)

I’ve been so interested in epigenetics lately. I think I may want to get into the field.

Let’s be collaborators one day. And…if you ever have a lab and need a research associate…
